LCLAA, Westchester County Honor Catherine Rivera

The Westchester County Board of Legislators, along with State Sen. Shelley B. Mayer and the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA), honored Local 100 member Catherine Rivera and her late husband, Nelson Rivera, a long time TWU officer, for their activism and community involvement.  The awards were presented at the annual meeting of the Westchester Chapter of LCLAA earlier this month.
 

Brother Rivera, who served as Administrative Vice President, Vice President for CED and Chair of CED, passed away in May 2020.  Sister Catherine Rivera remains an active member of Local 100 as a Conductor.

The award from Westchester County nicely summed up the sense of the acknowledgments. It proclaimed: “Through their life together, Catherine and Nelson Rivera, shared passion for improving the lives of workers everywhere. You saw the support they shared in campaigns, gatherings, and conferences. Most of all the love they had for each other was evident to all who had the pleasure to meet this wonderful couple.”

Local 100 Vice President Shirley Martin accepted the awards on Catherine’s behalf.
