Scholarships Totaling $127,500 Awarded to Help Our College Students

The grants are underwritten by M3 Technology. The drawing was conducted at the Union Hall by Shannon Poland, who is Assistant to President Tony Utano and Local 100’s Scholarship Coordinator. Participants also included Local 100 Secretary-Treasurer Richard Davis, RTO Vice President Canella Gomez, TA Surface Chair Ronald Carter, Stations Chair Derrick Echevarria, M3 Technology Executive Vice President Igor Rivilis and M3 Senior Rep. Gary Leff.

 

Poland will contact the individuals who were selected today for documentation required before funds can be dispersed. The first two winners in the drawing will receive $10,000 each. The next eight winners will receive $5,000 each, and 50 students will receive $1,500 apiece. There also will be a $2,500 scholarship awarded in honor of Train Operator Garrett Goble, who was killed when an arsonist set a fire on his train on March 27, 2020.

 

The $127,500 awarded is an increase of $25,000 from the total distributed last year.

 

Eligible applicants must be a member, spouse, child, or grandchild of a member or retiree in good standing.
