TA Surface Mourns Frank "Jake" Carlo

OCTOBER 27—TA Surface regretfully announces the passing of Frank “Jake” Carlo, 63, who worked as a Bus Maintainer Group A and who had been very active in Local 100.

Carlo died on Friday, October 24 after a battle with lung cancer.

“He was a good guy,” said Danny Ascona, Division Chair of TA Surface Maintenance. “Always pleasant, always gave opportunity to everybody, an ear if you needed.”

Carlo had been a steward in the Central Maintenance Facility after a stint at the Old Base Shop in East New York.

“He was a true union guy,” Ascona fondly remembered.

Carlo is survived by, among others, his son Richard, who also worked as a Bus Maintainer and called Local 100 his home until he moved to Staten Island.

A wake will be held on Tuesday, October 28 from 2PM-5PM and 7PM-9PM at Scarpaci Funeral Home, 1401 86th Street in Brooklyn, and the funeral will be on Wednesday, October 29 at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 720115th Ave in Brooklyn.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave. in Staten Island.
